Over the summer, the revenue of fitness clubs in Bashkiria fell by 30% compared to the same period in pre-pandemic 2019, Elena Shadrina, a representative of the Association of Fitness Industry Operators in the region, told RBC Ufa.
The most noticeable drop in the indicator was recorded in June after the announcement of plans to ban the unvaccinated from attending fitness clubs; for the first summer month, the revenue of industry organizations decreased by 17%. Then the inhabitants of the region postponed the purchase of club cards in the face of uncertainty. Despite the fact that the introduction of restrictive measures was eventually postponed indefinitely, revenue continued to fall.
“The losses are quite expected due to the worsening epidemiological situation, as well as due to the unusually hot summer in Bashkiria, for several months the air temperature in the region practically does not drop below 30 degrees, sales and attendance fell further. This, of course, we could not expect. Additional services also show a decline in sales and attendance, but we attribute this more to weather conditions than to covid-19,” said Elena Shadrina.
In association with caution give forecasts. According to Shadrina, the situation with the fall in revenue may be further aggravated in the fall due to the pandemic. “In such conditions, the recovery of the industry is slow, we have to talk more about survival,” she concluded.
