October 28, Brest. In schools in the Brest region in 2022, it is planned to repair 20 food units. Yury Prosmytsky, HEAD of the regional executive committee's main department for education, announced this today at a meeting of the regional executive committee, BelTA has learned.
The region has developed an action plan for the repair of catering units of general secondary education institutions for 2019-2023. During this time, 76 out of 106 have been renovated in the region. Next year, it is planned to repair 20 food units, and 12 in 2023. Also in the districts, it is planned to replace up to 10% of technological and refrigeration equipment annually. “To control the quality of food preparation, video surveillance systems are being installed in food units. They are already in 236 (49%) schools of the region. In order to control the availability and movement of products in food units, an electronic tracking program has been introduced in 283 institutions,” said Yury Prosmytsky.
By the way, in September-October, the prosecutor's office and the State Control Committee checked the quality of food in schools in the Brest region. The auditors have questions. In particular, they pointed to the facts of underweight, the supply of low-quality products. Also, due to the lack of storage facilities, the shelf life of vegetables and fruits is reduced.
During the meeting, the issue of food procurement was considered. Prices from the same suppliers for different areas vary significantly. This applies, for example, to SUGAR, FLOUR, MILK, apples, MEAT. "Put order with purchases. We are talking about the fact that schoolchildren in all regions should eat the same food for the same price. Meals should not differ - a clear position should be developed on this," said Yury Shuleiko, chairman of the Brest Regional Executive Committee.
