The largest grain processing enterprise in Belarus, the Borisov Bread Products Plant, produces a wide range of FLOUR and cereal products, pasta, as well as semi-finished products for baking, healthy food products, and pizza mixes. A correspondent for the 7 Days newspaper found out what makes the plant's products attractive to customers and when anti-aging bread will appear on store shelves.
Lords of Plant Growing
The unitary enterprise "Borisovskiy Kombinat Khleboproduktov" of the open joint-stock company "Minskoblkhleboprodukt" is one of the largest and most successful multi-profile food industry enterprises in Belarus, which is an integrated structure of 21 organizations in 12 districts of the MINSK region, the city of Zhodino and the city of Minsk, employing about 5,000 people. The idea of the functioning of this structure was to interest the manufacturer and processor to work in a single direction. And today it is fully implemented by a large friendly team of like-minded people, led by DIRECTOR Vladimir Miranovich.
Here they produce wheat flour of all grades, rye flour, cereals, semi-finished flour products, pasta, compound feed, pork, beef , MILK , sausages . Since the beginning of July 2025 - also tinned varieties of bread, bakery products, hearth brewed bread and flour confectionery products, as well as bread kvass.
The main goal of the plant's activities is from the gifts of the land to the consumer: to cultivate, grow and process grain and produce natural and environmentally friendly products, and the enterprise's motto is "Love your own, be proud of your own!"
One of the plant's activities is the production of pasta products, 74% of which are supplied to the Belarusian market. More than 12 thousand hectares of grain crops are grown on the farmland of the enterprises that are part of the integrated structure. Farmers monitor compliance with the norms, standards and technologies of crop production from sowing to harvesting from the fields. Such a strict approach allows them to supply natural, environmentally friendly products to the shelves of their branded stores and other retail chains.
- Our task is to grow high-quality raw materials that will be used in the production of cereals, pasta and compound feed products. In addition, the farms of the integrated structure have a dairy herd of about 5 thousand heads of cows, as well as about 150 thousand pigs, which must be provided with high-quality and nutritious feed, - explains Deputy Director for Plant Growing Nikolai Khilko.
In addition to grain crops, Borisov KHP grows rapeseed on its fields; rapeseed oil is produced from its seeds , which is not inferior to OLIVE OIL in terms of biophysical properties. After processing rapeseed oilseeds, a protein-rich cake remains, which is used as a unique protein supplement for animals.
- For the plant, rapeseed is a profitable and advantageous crop. And not only in terms of profit, but also as a good predecessor for grain crops. Therefore, we increase rapeseed crops every year. In 2025, the gross harvest of oilseeds amounted to 6 thousand tons with a yield of 3.5 centners per hectare, - notes the deputy director of the plant.
Bread against aging
Today, in plant growing, the Borisov grain products plant focuses on the quality of grain cultivation. In their fields, agronomists of agricultural enterprises conduct experiments with wheat varieties with a high gluten content, since this indicator is important for the production of pasta and bakery products: it affects the elasticity of the dough, the volume, structure and shape of the products.
- We actively cooperate with the scientific and practical center of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus on agriculture. We take data from them on growing cereal crops, buy high-reproduction seeds and then propagate them in our fields. Also this year we purchased seven varieties of spring wheat from the Omsk Agrarian Scientific Center, which are most suitable for the production of pasta and contain a high percentage of gluten and other indicators affecting the quality of flour, - explains Nikolai Pavlovich and notes that the climatic conditions in RUSSIA are different from ours. The purpose of the experiment is to find out: will our weather environment affect the quality of experimental wheat varieties?
Wheat of the EF-22 variety, or, as it is popularly called, "purple" - due to the characteristic shade of grains in the ear, deserves special attention. In addition to the high percentage of gluten, this variety is valued for its content of anthocyanin - a natural dye that is also found in berries and vegetables. This antioxidant has a number of beneficial properties for humans and helps prevent cardiovascular diseases, improve vision, reduce the risk of developing cancer, and also slows down the aging process and promotes the survival of neurons.
– The beneficial properties of anthocyanins have been scientifically proven. Now imagine that we have grown wheat containing this beneficial substance. Then we will bake bread from this flour, which we will eat three times a day. This will significantly improve the HEALTH of people and the nation as a whole, – Nikolai Khilko asserts and adds: – This year is an experimental one for us, and we are pioneers in this matter. There is a lot of work to do on the bread recipe. We plan to thresh about 80 tons of “purple” wheat this harvest. We hope that healthy bread will appear on the shelves of our brand stores and other retail chains at the end of this year or the beginning of next year.
Belarusian pasta in Italian style
The grain for flour products of the Borisovskiy Kombinat Khleboproduktov UP is used only from its own fields. The enterprise carries out strict quality control of the raw materials used and the manufactured products. Before becoming a finished product, the grain undergoes five stages of testing.
– The control of the harvested crop begins right from the field. Before delivery to the plant, a grain sample is taken from each machine for moisture and gluten analysis. Then, after milling, before loading into flour trucks, the laboratory checks the flour. Flour trucks deliver raw materials to the enterprise's bakeries and to the pasta production workshop (450 tons of flour are stored in bunkers).
Then the raw materials delivered to the workshop are checked again. The next stage of control is before loading the line. And finally, one more, - explains Deputy Director for Production Nikolay Volkovets.
– We have four pasta production lines: three for short pasta and one for long pasta. In 2021 and 2022, we carried out a major upgrade of the workshop, redesigned the flour supply system to be more efficient. We also installed a new substation for autonomous operation of the workshop in case of problems with the power supply. Two years ago, we equipped a Turkish line to increase production capacity and expand the range of short-cut pasta, – explains Nikolai Volkovets and notes that the new line allows us to reorganize the workshop to meet any consumer requests within 20 minutes. There, the products are immediately packaged and shipped to retail chains. 140 tons of pasta come off the conveyor every day.
According to the deputy director for production, one of the lines uses the same equipment as in Italy, and the pasta is produced using the same recipe, so Belarusian pasta is practically no different from foreign ones.
Borisov KHP is the only enterprise in Belarus that offers long pasta to the buyer. The equipment for the production of spaghetti and noodles is specific, and we have no analogues in the country. This is due to the lengthy process of manufacturing long-cut pasta: it takes six hours to dry them, while four hours are enough for short-cut pasta.
The deputy for production notes that the macaroni does not contain any soy, preservatives or additives. Only flour and water are used, which enters the workshop through a cleaning and filtration system from the city water supply - a well 40 meters deep.
Anticipate the buyer's desire
UP "Borisovskiy Kombinat Khleboproduktov" supplies the main part of the produced pasta to the domestic market. It works closely with some foreign countries: the Russian Federation, Israel, Georgia and Azerbaijan, which appreciated the ratio of high quality and attractive price of the products manufactured by Borisov residents.
– The employees of the marketing department constantly keep their finger on the pulse. They monitor market trends, ask our customers’ opinions, and also conduct marketing analysis and take into account consumer demands. The plant’s production capacity allows us to adapt to any type of product within 20 minutes and start delivering it to the shelves in four to five hours, – says Nikolay Volkovets and notes that the company is currently launching a new line of short- and long-cut pasta products in premium cardboard and craft packaging. – Marketers have analyzed the market and noted that there is consumer demand for products in cardboard and craft packaging, which we are happy to satisfy and make the first deliveries to retail chains by the end of August. We are currently considering proposals for the purchase of a packaging machine.
An excellent marketing move by the Borisov Plant of Bread Products was the production of pasta in three- and five-kilogram packages - for the convenience of those who go to live outside the city in the summer. Spaghetti, noodles, horns, straws, vermicelli and gossamer are popular on the domestic market. In addition, the company produces a children's line of pasta "Alphabet", "Veselye Rebyata", "Zvezdnaya Skazka", which are loved by both children and their parents.
- We try to be the first to anticipate the wishes and preferences of the buyer. We supplement the range of our premium line in cardboard packaging with traditional types of pasta, which are in demand among Belarusians. We will release a line for stuffing in craft packaging, - says Nikolai Volkovets and adds: - In addition to rebranding, attractive design of new types of packaging, there is another advantage - its environmental friendliness, which is important for us as a manufacturer of exclusively natural products.
UP "Borisovskiy Kombinat Khleboproduktov" in figures for 2025:
pasta products – 27 thousand tons
high-quality flour – 88.6 thousand tons
compound feed products – 111 thousand tons
milk – 37 thousand tons
MEAT - 29 thousand tons
The company has its own retail network of 33 branded stores, which offer a wide range of manufactured products at prices with a reduced trade markup.
UP "Borisovskiy Kombinat Khleboproduktov" is the only enterprise in Belarus that produces long-cut pasta.
The production capacity of four modern pasta production lines allows the Borisov Bakery Plant to change the type of product to meet consumer needs within 20 minutes, and to ship the first batch to store shelves in 4-5 hours.
