In Bashkiria, according to Bashkortostanstat, in mid-November, chicken eggs rose in price by 5.5% to 96 rubles in a week. per ten, chilled and frozen chickens - by 1% to 213 rubles. per kg. Over the month, prices for eggs increased by 17% (cost 80 rubles), for chicken MEAT - by 3% (207 rubles). The rise in prices for eggs outpaces the rise in prices for other food products in October, Bashstat notes. Eggs rose in price by 16.4% compared to September, and by 23.4% over 11 months. Prices for poultry meat also increased significantly - by 5.3% per month and by 26.3% compared to the end of December last year. Chicken legs increased in price from 206.7 rubles. per kg at the end of December 2022 to 257.5 rubles. at the beginning of November - by 20%.
Over the year, eggs have risen in price by 28%, and chicken meat by 22%.
According to official statistics, in January-September, egg production in farms of all categories in Bashkiria decreased by 12.7% compared to the same period last year - to 766.9 million pieces. The poultry population as of October 1 amounted to 10 million heads, having decreased by 26.1% compared to last year.
Other data is reported by the industry portal “Ptitsainfo” with reference to Rosstat ; at the end of October, there were 4.9 million heads of poultry in agricultural organizations in Bashkiria. A year earlier there were 8.7 million heads. Thus, the number of poultry in Bashkiria decreased by almost half over the year - by 44%. At the same time, the number of other types of farm animals in the republic remained at approximately the same level or decreased slightly.
According to the portal, the main reason for the reduction was an outbreak of bird flu at the Bashkirskaya poultry farm (part of the Tavros Group). Bashkirskaya is one of the largest producers of eggs and egg products in RUSSIA. Since the beginning of the year, the factory has produced more than 440 million eggs. The bird population was estimated at more than 2.6 million birds. The company recalled products shipped to contractors since July 30 and stopped sales for six months. Products and livestock were destroyed. “The reduction in the number of poultry by 43.6% over the year had a negative impact on the economy of the region and the supply of poultry to the local market. Recovery from such losses may take considerable time, and additional measures are required to support poultry farmers and restore the industry,” the publication notes.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture of Bashkortostan, the increase in egg prices is not related to the outbreak of bird flu and began long before the epidemic; this is a nationwide trend. “This is mainly due to the rise in prices for poultry feed, medicines and equipment,” noted the Ministry of Agriculture. At the end of October, Russian President Vladimir Putin
drew attention to the rise in prices . On average, the country's price increase for chicken meat has been 27% since the beginning of the year. Later the Ministry of AgricultureRussia said that it attributes the dynamics primarily to a decrease in production volumes in recent months and an increase in production costs against the backdrop of a high DOLLAR exchange rate.
In connection with the increase in prices, the FAS began inspections against producers of chicken eggs and meat for the conclusion of anti-competitive agreements.
First Deputy Chairman of the Bashkir Trade Association, General DIRECTOR of the Bayram chain Pavel Antipin told Kommersant-Ufa that retail chains regularly ask manufacturers for reasons for rising prices. “We are receiving official responses indicating various reasons. This includes bird flu , rising prices for feed, rising wages at enterprises, problems with recruiting staff, and overall rising costs. That is, a number of reasons influenced the rise in price. As for retail chains, for the second year we have maintained a minimum markup on chicken and egg products, which varies from 2% to 10% according to the signed memorandum.” According to Mr. Antipin, there is no shortage of products in the chain stores today.
