HEALTH Department of the Grodno Regional Executive Committee told BelTA.
A man injured in an encounter with a viper was admitted to the Grodno City Emergency Hospital. According to the patient, the viper bit him while mowing grass at his dacha. Upon examination, doctors discovered three bites on his leg.
To prevent serious complications, the patient was administered a special serum containing antibodies that neutralize the venom in the intensive care unit
. Symptomatic
treatment was also prescribed to alleviate his condition. The man remained under observation in the intensive care unit for 24 hours and was then transferred to the toxicology department.
A resident of the Shchuchin District, who also suffered a bite from a snake, was also given an anti-venom serum.
Natalia Ushkevich,
HEAD of the emergency hospital's admissions department, recommends seeking immediate medical attention as soon as possible so that
a DOCTOR can assess the condition and administer serum if necessary.
Doctors also recommend limiting the movement of the affected organ and giving the victim plenty of fluids. The wound should be treated with an antiseptic and a sterile bandage applied, and antiallergic medications should be administered.
In this case, a tourniquet or cauterization should be avoided. Do not attempt to squeeze out or suck out the poison yourself. Specialists also advise against consuming any poison.
