The number of yaks will increase in Tyva

Yaks have been domesticated from wild yaks (Bos mutus) and consume less feed compared to cattle due to their small rumen size and capacity, and are kept on year-round pasture.

Yak MILK is very nutritious compared to milk from dairy cows, especially in terms of protein and fat content. The percentage of fat in yak milk ranges from 5.5 to 7.5% compared to 3.5% in cow's milk, and the percentage of protein ranges from 4.9 to 5.9% compared to 3.14% in cow's milk.

When milked during the main lactation period, yak milk is a naturally concentrated milk due to its higher content of fat (5.7–7.5%), protein (4.0–5.9%) and lactose (4.0–5. 9%).

In the Republic of Tyva, livestock breeder Kara-Kat Nadanovich has been working as an individual entrepreneur and the HEAD of a peasant farm since 2019. Last year, he received the first soft loan from Rosselkhozbank to increase the number of yaks on his farm.

Now the farmer has 80 heads of yaks, as well as over 100 heads of sheep - from the uterus to the young, over 200 goats and more than 60 heads of cattle . During the lambing campaign, the ewes gave birth to 20 lambs and 28 lambs.

“For me, success is wintering without losses, and this is the result of careful preparation for the most important campaign. The main thing is that we repaired and insulated the sheds. We carried out veterinary treatment and preventive measures in a timely manner,” said the livestock breeder, noting that the farm is provided with feed and reserve stocks have been created for the livestock.
