“In Russia, the growth of chicken production has practically stopped. The market is 100% secure, and the competition for poultry is pork,” the article says, Vedomosti reports.
From January to August 2023, Russian companies produced 4.3 million tons of poultry in live weight, which is only 0.7% higher than the same period last year. Rosstat data was confirmed by the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation. They note that the poultry industry “shows positive dynamics”; a more significant increase is expected at the end of the year.
President of Agrifood Strategies Albert Davleev believes that the meat market in Russia is now stabilizing. He explains the current situation primarily by the increased supply of pork on the market, which is gradually displacing poultry from the industrial processing segment.
Previously, the price of chicken meat in Russia set a historical record. Average prices for chicken in July reached 196.93 rubles per kilogram.
