7 cases of salmonellosis registered in the Kaliningrad region in a week

Over the past week in the Kaliningrad region, 284 patients with signs of intestinal infections sought medical help, of which 200 were children. Laboratory studies showed 7 cases of salmonellosis.

According to the Department of Rospotrebnadzor for the Kaliningrad region, one of the factors in the transmission of salmonellosis is the use of undercooked MEAT products.

“Salmonella carriers can be chickens, ducks, cattle, pigs, sheep, horses, as well as dogs, cats, house rodents and many species of wild animals. Salmonella is found not only in the meat and internal organs of birds, but also in eggs. Infected poultry products and eggs do not differ from normal in appearance, smell and taste," the ministry said.

Remember that salmonella remain viable in foods when stored in the refrigerator, as they are not afraid of low temperatures. In raw MILK, salmonella survive up to 10 days. In meat, sausages, butter - up to 2-4 months. In the egg - up to 1 year, on the shell - 2-3 weeks. When cooking meat, they die after 30 minutes, in an egg - after 10 minutes.
