The Buryat State Agricultural Academy will be able to improve selection and genetic research of farm animals

This set of studies will allow for a detailed analysis of the molecular DNA of animals living in the area of ​​Siberia and the Far East. The research will analyze the molecular characteristics of cattle , sheep, horses, pigs, goats, yaks, camels, reindeer, deer, fish, bees and other species.

The complex has a wide range of capabilities and will allow for molecular genetic research aimed at identifying the mechanisms of formation of characteristics of productivity and resistance of farm animals to diseases, as well as determining their origin, reports the dean of the Faculty of Technology, Vladimir Achituev

The Animal Genetics Research Complex includes the following:

- system for digital PCR DropDX-2044HT, which will allow you to determine the absolute concentrations of nucleic acids without the use of calibration curves.

- a multifunctional high-performance refrigerated centrifuge 1248R, which can accelerate up to 16,582 g (12,000 rpm).

- Nano-500 spectrophotometer, which allows for a wide range of measurements that usually require several instruments.

“This equipment will make it possible to carry out analyzes to create new factory lines when forming a herd of the Buryat type of the Kalmyk breed, the Buryat coarse-wool breed of sheep and will be used in the educational process,” says Vladimir Achituev. 

In November, the dean visited RGAU - Moscow Agricultural Academy named after. K.A. Timiryazev and got acquainted with the work of the educational and scientific center "Service Laboratory for Complex Analysis of Chemical Compounds".

The use of the research complex "Laboratory of Animal Genetics" will expand the scientific capabilities of future students in the field of study 03/36/02 "Animal Science" and will help develop the necessary competencies and skills.
