Specialists of the sector of molecular and serological types of testing conducted research using the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) to determine the composition of products. In the test sample of MEAT products, the presence of raw material DNA, namely soybean DNA, not declared in the labeling, was found.

According to the Technical Regulations of the Customs Union TR CU 022/2011 "Food Products in terms of their labeling", all components included in the product must be indicated in the labeling in order to ensure the realization of consumer rights to reliable information about food products.

Since the beginning of the year, 20 samples of food products have been examined in the testing center of the Rostov Reference Center of ROSSELKHOZNADZOR to determine the raw material composition. According to the results of research in 5 samples, a discrepancy was found between the raw material composition declared in the labeling.

Any intentionally added ingredient in a food product must be included on the label. If this does not happen, then the consumer is misled about the composition of meat products. There may also be a risk to human HEALTH in the event of a food intolerance or allergy to soy that is not listed on the label.

Information on the detection of the presence of soybean DNA, not declared in the labeling of products, is promptly sent to the Rosselkhoznadzor Office for the Rostov, Volgograd and Astrakhan regions and the Republic of Kalmykia.
