Creation of a large poultry farming cluster in the Altai Territory

In recent years, the Altai Territory has become one of the key sites for the development of the Russian agro-industrial complex. One of the most significant projects in this direction is the creation of a large poultry cluster initiated by the Cherkizovo holding. At the meeting between the Governor of the Altai Territory Viktor Tomenko and the founder of Cherkizovo Igor Babaev, current problems and prospects for this ambitious project were discussed.

Investments and  plans to increase production

Cherkizovo Holding is actively investing in the construction of new poultry houses at the sites of the Altai Broiler enterprise. As a result of these efforts, it is planned to double the production of poultry meat in the region - up to 130 thousand tons per year. The total investment in the project is 17.5 billion rubles, which emphasizes the seriousness of the company’s intentions.

However, for the successful implementation of the project, a number of infrastructure issues must be resolved. As Governor Tomenko noted, the most important tasks are the construction of roads and the laying of electrical networks. Without proper infrastructure, it will be impossible to ensure the effective functioning of the new production.

Difficulties in providing a raw material base

One of the key problems facing the holding is the shortage of poultry meat in the Altai Territory. Igor Babaev emphasized that the enterprise urgently needs to expand its raw material base, since at the moment a significant part of the products comes from the Central Black Earth Region and other regions. This not only increases costs, but also complicates logistics.

To solve this problem, it is necessary to ensure access to agricultural land in the Biysk zone, which, as the governor noted, is the most expensive. Lack of sufficient area for farming can be a serious obstacle to the growth of poultry meat production.

Support from regional authorities

Regional authorities expressed their readiness to actively participate in solving infrastructure issues. Governor Tomenko noted that if necessary, federal decisions will be included. This is important, since the successful implementation of the project will not only create new jobs, but also increase the level of food security in the region.

Prospects for the local economy

The creation of a large poultry cluster in the Altai Territory could significantly increase the economic sustainability of the region. Increasing poultry meat production will not only satisfy the needs of the local market, but also create new export opportunities. In addition, the project can contribute to the development of related industries such as feed production and processing.
