According to the official website of Topagro, the company is located in the village of Samofalovka, Gorodishchensky district, Volgograd region, and has been successfully raising and breeding pigs on an industrial basis for more than 10 years. Every year the enterprise produces 11.2 thousand tons of pork.
However, in March 2022, the Rosprirodnadzor department for the Astrakhan and Volgograd regions reported the unauthorized dumping of Topagro livestock waste on an area of 60 hectares near the Samofalovsky rural settlement. As a result of the analysis of soil samples, a significant excess in the concentrations of pollutants such as petroleum products, nitrates, phosphates and zinc was discovered. For this violation, the company was fined 40 thousand rubles.
Rosprirodnadzor's claim for 15 billion rubles raises questions about the scale of violations that could have occurred at the enterprise. The lawsuit may be related to the long-term consequences of the negative impact of unauthorized waste dumping on the environment, including soil and water resources.
While official information about the nature of the claims has not been disclosed, it should be noted that such claims with significant amounts indicate the seriousness of the situation. It is possible that Rosprirodnadzor is demanding compensation for damage caused to the environment and possibly human HEALTH as a result of violations at the pig farm.
