Until now, the industry association of players that account for 60% of the country's poultry production has attributed the rise in prices to insufficient supply amid a sharp increase in demand, production problems in some regions of the country and unprecedented growth in exports. According to Rosstat, in August the price of a kilogram of chicken MEAT was 208 rubles, in September it increased to 221 rubles.
Early last week, the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) announced that poultry producers began to reduce selling prices for chicken, but did not name specific indicators. In the period from October 10 to October 16, Rosstat recorded a slowdown in price growth to 0.9% versus 1.26% a week earlier. As of October 16, since the beginning of the year, chicken prices have risen by 27.52%.
A representative of the Russian Ministry of Agriculture said that Dmitry Patrushev held a meeting with members of the NSP, at which the parties reached an agreement to intensify production and stabilize prices on the domestic market.
