Reckless drivers and pedestrians without reflectors: Who were most frequently stopped on the roads of the Gomel region over the weekend?

Traffic police officers identified more than 2,800 traffic violations on the roads of the Gomel Region over Friday and the weekend, BelTA learned from the Gomel Regional Executive Committee Department of Internal Affairs.
Over the past three days, regional traffic police officers have been on high alert and have been conducting activities aimed at preventing accidents and suppressing serious traffic violations that pose a threat to road safety.
A total of 2,818 traffic violations were identified and suppressed during these days. Among them, 16 drivers were intoxicated while driving, 75 were unlicensed, more than 140 were speeding, 135 failed to yield to pedestrians, 77 were transporting children without child restraints, and approximately 300 drivers failed to wear seat belts.
858 traffic violations were committed by vulnerable road users: 278 did not have reflectors at night and 95 were in a state ofALCOHOL intoxication .
The regional State Traffic Inspectorate calls on all road users to strictly adhere to traffic regulations. Given the season, they recommend paying particular attention to ensuring visibility on the road at night by using reflective elements.
