Total red MEAT stocks in June were down 4.3% month-on-month and 7.5% year-over-year to 868.8 million , according to a report released by the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) . pounds.
Total stocks of broilers in cold stores in June were 738.4 million pounds, down 14.8% from last year. The amount of thigh meat (-54.1%), thigh quarter (-16.1%), wings (-17.5%), legs (-14.6%) and breast (-9.2%) is decreasing. But there was an increase in stocks of shins (18.5%) and paws (30.0%). The total number of turkeys in cold stores decreased by 14.5% from last year to 406.0 million pounds. Turkey inventories are down 11% year-over-year from a 2% decline at the end of May, which will help boost turkey prices ahead of Thanksgiving (November 25, 2021).
