Russia increased food production by 5.3% in the first half of 2023. At the same time, the output indicator for June decreased compared to May and returned to the level of April, Alexander Korbut, an independent expert on the agricultural market, believes.
He does not rule out that production has run into effective demand, but conclusions and forecasts can be made when data on retail trade turnover and the index of entrepreneurial confidence in the industry become available.

Butter for the 1st half of 2023 compared to the same period last year was produced by 5.3% more - 163.1 thousand tons, and more cheese by 16.8% - 376 thousand tons.
The production of flour and bread is decreasing. In Russia, in the first half of 2023, 4.2 million tons of flour were produced, which is 1.7% lower than in January-June 2022, while output fell by 1% to 2.5 million tons. In June, 418.9 thousand tons were baked, which is 0.4% less than in June last year, and 2% less than in May 2023. The production of pasta decreased by 8.7% and rice by 5.3%. At the same time, buckwheat production increased by 6%.
