246 people died in fires in Belarus since the beginning of the year

May 23, MINSK . Since the beginning of the year, 246 people have died in fires in Belarus, the official representative of the Ministry of Emergency Situations Yevgeny Baranovsky told reporters.

"In terms of fires, the most dangerous period is autumn-winter, when everyone actively begins to use stoves and electrical appliances. At the same time, three main reasons remain unchanged - this is smoking in a state ofALCOHOL intoxication followed by fire and death, violation of the rules for the operation of electrical appliances or improper condition of electrical appliances, electrical networks or heat generating devices, furnace equipment. But in the summer, there are huge risks for children who are left unattended. A childish prank - something was set on fire somewhere, and often such situations end tragically," said Yevgeny Baranovsky.

According to him, last year 627 people died in fires in the country, including 14 children. "This year, as of today, 246 people have died, one of them is a child," said the official representative of the Ministry of Emergency Situations.

Evgeny Baranovsky reminded about the need to install autonomous fire detectors. “A couple of weeks ago, there was a case in Voronovo, where a family of 5 people was saved thanks to an autonomous fire detector. The investigation is still ongoing. that the API worked."
