May 24, MINSK . Dmitry Baranovsky, HEAD of the department of the republican diving and rescue service of the Belarusian Republican Society for Water Rescue (OSVOD), recalled the rules of conduct on the water.
"The basis of the basics is to swim in permitted places. Do not useALCOHOL . Parents need to supervise their children, the safe distance is arm's length. These are not simple words, this is practice. Time passes by fractions of a second. Do not violate the rules of personal safety. You should not swim over the buoys. Behind the buoys there may be a slope, a whirlpool, but the main thing is that the navigable zone begins there. A big problem is swimming on items that are not intended for this: mattresses, wheel chambers, home-made rafts. If a person goes into the water after a long stay in the sun, then there may be dizziness, a person may lose consciousness," Dmitry Baranovsky said.
If you see that a person needs help, there is no need to panic, added the head of the department. "There is a service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations - short numbers 112 and 101. There are numbers of rescue stations on all beaches. And, of course, you need to try to provide assistance. But at the same time, you should count your strength," he said.
