Ministry of Internal Affairs: this year over 200 criminal cases were opened for reports of false mining

December 22, MINSK,. More than 200 criminal cases have been opened for reports of false mining. Such information is posted on the official website of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, BelTA informs.

The verdict against a 21-year-old fourth-year student of the Brest State Technical University, who "mined" a hostel during a live broadcast, came into force the other day. In mid-October, a call came from the university that during the training stream, an unknown person in the comment feed reported an explosive device in the dormitory where the event was held. Within an hour, operatives from the department for combating cybercrime of the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Brest Regional Executive Committee identified the author of the post. Sentence - restriction of freedom for a period of one year and six months without referral to a correctional institution.

According to the HEAD of the main department for combating cybercrime of the criminal police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, police colonel Andrey Kovalev, such a category of crimes as a message about false danger can be divided into two types. The first is traditional, when information about false mining is received, as a rule, through a phone call, SMS message. At the same time, many miners are in a state of intoxication , which explains their actions. The disclosure of such crimes is within the competence of the criminal investigation department. This year, 39 criminal cases have been initiated, most of the suspects have been identified.

"The second type, the most relevant one, is sending a message to e-mail via feedback forms and instant messengers, often fanned out, to several addresses at once. Considering that this category of crimes is revealed through analysis, analytics and international cooperation, we work with law enforcement agencies in most countries of the world Andrey Kovalev stressed, "Almost 1,500 such facts have been registered this year. Over 170 criminal cases have been initiated as a result of inspections.

Belarus has built a clear system for responding to reports of mining. Not only sappers, but also ambulances, rescuers, local authorities go to each one. These are mandatory measures in order to prevent trouble.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs reminds that it is no coincidence that serious responsibility for such actions is determined by law. Obviously, special services incur considerable material costs. In addition, a real incident may occur at this time. A false message about a danger at a large facility can provoke a panic, as a result of which tragic consequences are not ruled out. In addition, the normal performance of institutions and organizations is undermined. There is another problem - people get used to the fact that messages are not confirmed and may not be ready for a real threat.

"The internal affairs bodies have sufficient technical and operational capabilities to identify such violators," Andrey Kovalev stressed.

People who have a desire to report an imaginary danger should be aware of the responsibility and consequences. In addition, the task of parents is to explain to their children that this is unacceptable and punishable. Responsibility for such acts comes from the age of 14. If the crime was committed by a child under this age, then his parents will have to reimburse the financial costs of the services and departments that verified the message about the danger.
