1 MYTH. Helps to warm up quickly.

Mulled wine is a great alternative to keep warm

There is some truth in this. With hypothermia, only the first 50 grams of strong ALCOHOL, such as cognac or vodka, will help. As everyone knows, they have a beneficial effect on vasodilation, and normalize the blood flow of internal organs. However, the subsequent intake of alcohol only increases the blood supply, so the body heats up faster, respectively, intense heat transfer occurs and the body begins to cool down. A sort of vicious circle. There is a very good alternative for warming up - hot cocktails. The advantage of these drinks is that they can be prepared on the basis of useful ingredients: lemon, ginger, cinnamon, etc.

2 MYTH. Snacking vodka with lemon does not get drunk for a long time.

Completely wrong judgment. Lemon stimulates intestinal peristalsis and the secretion of gastric juice, due to which there is a better absorption of nutrients, as well as alcohol. Thus, it enters the bloodstream much faster, so intoxication occurs more rapidly than if you do not eat lemon. Quite a different question if you use lemon juice. Citrus drinks remove acetaldehyde, which helps with hangovers.

3 MYTH. Alcohol increases appetite.

It is best to eat hot and fatty foods

Yes this is true. However, the feeling of hunger appears only if you drink strong drinks, such as whiskey, cognac or vodka. An important factor is to consume in small quantities (20-25 grams). Alcohol affects the part of the brain that is responsible for saturation, and this happens no earlier than 15-20 minutes. From this we can conclude that you will not be able to quickly want to eat, and with a long wait, the gastric mucosa is affected.

4 MYTH. Helps hypertension.

Everyone knows that alcohol, including low-alcohol drinks, dilates blood vessels. Therefore, many people think that they can thereby lower high blood pressure. This is correct, but in part. Blood pressure fully depends on the volume of blood that is pushed into the bloodstream, and  alcohol in small doses weakens the vascular walls and increases the heart rate. Therefore, the larger the blood volume, the higher the pressure, and it is not entirely true to consider alcohol a panacea for hypertension. The situation is aggravated by the content of biologically active additives in them, which in themselves affect the pressure.

5 MYTH. Contains no calories.

Girls who are on various diets count calories only in dishes and pastries, but they do not take alcohol into account, because they believe that they simply do not exist there. And this is fundamentally not true! A strong drink has a high energy value. This is especially true for vodka, but it is worth noting that it has no nutrients - calories come from alcohol. The situation with wine is quite different. There are more carbohydrates in the composition, which break down and burn rather quickly. Therefore, it does not have such a detrimental effect on the appearance.

6 MYTH. Better to eat than drink.

Yes that's right. However, you need to make a small remark: not every dish will be equally the best option. For example, cold snacks (as well as juices) weakly neutralize alcohol, and it enters the bloodstream very quickly. As for hot and fatty dishes, this is an excellent company for alcohol. They contain a large amount of fats that retain ethanol and it is absorbed more slowly.

7 MYTH. Helps with colds.

Wine stimulates the immune system

Surely you have heard from your friends the following phrase: "To cure a cold, you need to sweat well, and vodka with pepper will help in this."

Again, there is some truth to this. Justifications only from a medical point of view: the body really heats up due to vasodilation, but it quickly cools down, in no way helping with a cold. But if you warm up and drink a little wine, you can stimulate the immune system of the body.

8 MYTH. Only counterfeit alcohol is harmful.

Absolutely any alcohol has a toxic effect: one of the elements of the breakdown of ethanol is acetaldehyde, which is very harmful to the body. Therefore, low-quality drinks (fakes) containing various artificial components and fusel oils, which are very toxic, are of great danger. The same applies to homemade preparations, despite the fact that only the best ingredients were used. The fact is that at home we are not able to purify alcohol properly. Therefore, it is better to pay more, but the quality will be much better than underground analogues.

9 MYTH. For pregnant women in small doses is not harmful.

Fundamentally not true! At any stage of pregnancy, it is strictly forbidden to drink alcohol in any quantities. Otherwise, you risk giving birth to a child with alcohol syndrome and other bad consequences. It is especially dangerous in the first months, when all the main organs of vital activity are formed.

10 MYTH. Protects from radiation.

Absolutely not true. Alcohol, on the contrary, increases radiation damage. This is especially true for those organs that accumulate radionuclides the most: lungs, bone and spinal cord, thyroid gland. Therefore, such a judgment is erroneous and has no supporting grounds.
