A large-scale investment project is underway in the Voskresensk urban district.
Construction of Russia's first breeding and seed production center for industrial tomato seed production is scheduled for completion in the fourth quarter of 2026.
"The Moscow Region is already a leader in greenhouse vegetable production. The region is also actively working to develop a domestic seed production base. Once it reaches its design capacity, the center will produce 110 to 120 million seeds per year. This project will enable us to develop our own varieties and hybrids and replace up to 50% of foreign-produced alternatives. This will lay the foundation for the sustainable development of the entire industry, providing agricultural producers with high-quality Russian seed," said Sergei Dvoynykh, Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Moscow Region.
The total investment in the project is estimated at 12 billion rubles. Once the facility is operational, more than 350 additional jobs will be created.
ECO-Culture, an agricultural holding company implementing the investment project, specializes in greenhouse vegetable cultivation. The holding company comprises 13 greenhouse complexes in various regions of Russia, including the Moscow region, covering a total area of 700 hectares. For example, the "Podmoskovie" greenhouse complex is already operating in the urban district of Voskresensk. Last year, over 9,000 tons of greenhouse crops—tomatoes, lettuces, and peppers—were harvested there. The total gross harvest of greenhouse vegetables in the Moscow region in 2025 was 131,000 tons.
