PIONERPRODUKT .by continues to publish videos from the AgroExpedition “Agriculture of Kazakhstan”. In this video we will watch the selection of young rams of the Edilbaev breed for insemination of a flock of sheep of the Kazakh coarse wool breed, which for various reasons did not bear offspring.
Recently, the flocks of the Alakol-Agro enterprise migrated from high mountain pastures to autumn pastures located at an altitude of 1200-2000 meters above sea level. Here the cattle will graze until mid-October, after which the flocks will move to winter pastures.
Typically, the Alakol-Agro enterprise uses artificial insemination, which is carried out from October 1-5. However, for one flock of 1000 sheep, it was decided to carry out harem insemination. This flock was formed from sheep that were not inseminated last year, thereby giving them a “second chance” before culling. The timing of insemination is calculated so that the offspring can be obtained in late February - early March.
Despite the fact that there is still snow at this time, the Kazakh rough-haired breed is unpretentious and resistant to different climatic conditions. Therefore, lambing time in the conditions of the Kazakh winter, which can be very harsh (down to minus 40 degrees), is celebrated comfortably and there is no need to worry about the HEALTH of the lambs. At birth, they already have the necessary coat, and they also feed on MILK, of which this breed has a sufficient amount, and from this milk the lambs receive the mother’s immunity .
Taking into account the high productivity indicators of the Edilbaevskaya breed, the farm purchased rams from the Berlik breeding plant and Suleymanov's farm in order to conduct an experiment to increase the live weight and productivity of sheep of the Kazakh coarse-wool breed. All rams correspond to the elite class. They are launched in batches, first 11 heads, the next day 11 more, on the third day 12 more, but the first batch (11 rams) is removed from the flock. It turns out that the sheep work schedule is 2 days after 1 for 30 days.
The foothills of the Dzungarian Alatau are famous for their various herbs and, according to the latest data, the flora includes about two hundred species of plants. During the day, there is enough water on the autumn pastures and it is not so hot, in addition, there is a lot of dry matter in the grass, so the cattle here gain weight very well, which is very important before the winter period.
Rams of the Edilbaev breed are selected for insemination; preference is given to rams with a raised tail; it is believed that such rams have more pronounced MEAT qualities. Their fur is braided. Grading specialists evaluate sheep wool using 9 indicators.
