Harvesting of oilseeds has started on the Don

In the Rostov region began harvesting oilseeds. To date, oilseeds have been harvested from almost 60,000 hectares, which is only 5% of the total area under oilseeds. The gross harvest amounted to 113 thousand tons with a yield of 19.2 q/ha. This was announced by the first deputy governor of the Rostov region Viktor Goncharov during a trip to the Zernograd region.
“Last spring, Don agrarians increased a group of oilseeds - their sown area amounted to over 1 million 150 thousand hectares, which is 18% more than last year,” the first deputy governor of the region emphasized. - Of course, the main oilseed crop on the Don is sunflower. And we know that the Rostov region is one of the top three leaders in the production of vegetable oil, as well as in the export of raspberries and their products. This year, sunflower has been sown on an area of ​​more than 830,000 hectares. It will be harvested in the fall, but the harvesting of other oilseeds, such as rapeseed, flax, and mustard, has already started.”
According to the Don Ministry of Agriculture and Food, almost 82.5 thousand tons of winter and spring rapeseed, 24.5 thousand tons of oil flax, 4.3 thousand tons of mustard have been harvested to date.
During a visit to the Zernograd region, Viktor Goncharov got acquainted with the progress of flax harvesting in one of the farms. Experts note that every year the area of ​​this highly profitable crop is increasing. Linseed oil is obtained from it - a product with unique healing properties, a source of unsaturated fatty acids is actively used in medicine, dietetics, and cosmetology. There are no problems with sales, therefore, this season, more than two thousand hectares were sown with flax in this farm of the Zernograd region.
Recall that last year the Rostov region collected a record harvest of oilseeds - about 2.1 million tons, which is 30% more than a year earlier. By the way, the leader in oilseeds harvest last year was the Zernograd region, which harvested almost 117,000 tons.
