ALCOHOL intoxication . "Alcohol dulls the sense of fear and responsibility; it's our scourge, for both women and men," says Emil Akhtyamov.
Most of those who die while swimming do so in areas not intended for such recreation. "In our region, a third die in technical bodies of water: fire ponds, drainage canals," he added. The number of water accidents involving pensioners remains stable, especially those living alone, and those living in dachas and villages. "Most likely, the cause is age-related factors and
HEALTH conditions. They may become dizzy while walking, and after a fall, they have difficulty getting up. Some of them become dependent on alcohol without the supervision of relatives. Therefore, I urge relatives to pay attention to the elderly," said the OSVOD representative. Preventive
measures are constantly being taken to reduce the risk of death in bodies of water . "We interact with various categories of citizens, trying to find a personalized approach to each. We prioritize working with children. We participate in swimming training and host various events. We explain water safety rules and teach rescue and self-rescue techniques. Before school holidays, we send our staff to meet with schoolchildren and parents. We produce special videos for minors on social media, and we try to hold discussions with adults at work and conduct training sessions," noted the leading specialist. The regional OSVOD
organization is undergoing a planned modernization. "This year, we increased the number of lifeguards for the swimming season. We have added two motorboats, and ten more will be acquired by the end of the year. We are undergoing a planned replacement of diving equipment, and two OSVOD mobile rescue posts have been acquired. They can be deployed in public recreation areas, ensuring the effective service of our staff," the expert noted. In conclusion, he reminded that young ice is dangerous, and fog and snowfall reduce visibility. "You must be extremely careful, avoid approaching the water while intoxicated, and wear life-saving equipment when on the ice, especially life jackets. Children without adult supervision are prohibited from going onto the ice," Emil Akhtyamov emphasized.
