The sixth meeting of the Belarusian-Serbian working group on cooperation in agriculture and food was held at the Ministry of Agriculture and Food via videoconference. The Belarusian side was led by Ksenia Meleshko, Head of the Main Directorate for Foreign Economic Activity of the agricultural ministry, and the Serbian side was led by Nebojša Milosavljević, Director of the Plant Protection Department of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Economy.

The parties discussed key areas of cooperation: developing bilateral trade, veterinary and phytosanitary cooperation, as well as collaboration in crop production and seed production. The Belarusian side noted the intensification of bilateral contacts this year and the high level of mutual trust. Serbia is a key partner for Belarus in the Balkans, with which the two countries share not only economic but also historical and cultural ties.

From January to October 2025, trade turnover in the food and agricultural raw materials segment increased by 29.8% compared to the same period in 2024. Belarusian exports to Serbia increased by 37.6% and include dairy products (primarily skim milk powder and cheeses ), fruits and berries , vegetables and melons, and oils and fats. Imports from Serbia are also growing , primarily animal feed, seed corn, and planting material.

Over the past five years, the Belarusian Department of Veterinary and Food Supervision has accredited 38 milk processing plants and 7 poultry processing plants for export to Serbia.

At the meeting, the Belarusian side confirmed its interest in increasing dairy product supplies given favorable market conditions, expanding the range of exports, particularly through chicken eggs , canned meat, and finished meat products, increasing the number of accredited enterprises, and strengthening the exchange of information and best practices.

The parties emphasized that current cooperation is already yielding tangible results for consumers in both countries, but its potential is far from exhausted. The meeting participants expressed confidence that further deepening the strategic agro-industrial partnership will open up new opportunities for joint projects and expanded mutual supplies. Cooperation between the agencies is carried out within the framework of an open-ended memorandum of understanding signed by the Belarusian Ministry of Agriculture and Food and the Serbian Ministry of Agriculture and Food.
