The Governor of the Chelyabinsk Region and the SITNO company opened a selection and seed production center

A selection and seed production center was inaugurated in the Agapovsky district of the Chelyabinsk region.
The complex is equipped with modern equipment for additional processing and pre-sowing preparation of seeds, storage capacity is 15 thousand tons. Investments in its creation exceeded 620 million rubles. As the head of the region, Alexey Teksler, noted, the center will generally improve the efficiency of agricultural production in the Southern Urals.
The opening took place as part of the regional agricultural exhibition “Field Day 2024”. The seed plant will satisfy the need for high-quality seeds of the SITNO company and will provide an opportunity to sell them to enterprises in the Chelyabinsk region and other constituent entities of the Russian Federation.
“The multitasking complex will make a significant contribution to the development of the agro-industrial complex of the Chelyabinsk region and the Russian Federation as a whole,” noted Roman Nekrasov, director of the department of crop production, mechanization, chemicalization and plant protection of the Russian Ministry of Agriculture, who took part in the agricultural exhibition and the center’s grand opening. According to him, the implementation of such projects will accelerate the implementation of the tasks set by the President and the Government of the Russian Federation in the field of food security, in increasing the export of food products by 1.5 times by 2030:
- The construction of such modern equipped complexes very seriously reduces the time it takes for seed to pass from laboratories to mass plantings in the fields. It is very gratifying that it appeared in the Chelyabinsk region, where farmers have to work in a risky farming area and the weather is not often favorable. And of course, improving the quality of seed material with which the region’s farms will work is a new step in increasing the sustainability and efficiency of agricultural business in the Chelyabinsk region.
The head of the department of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation emphasized that such facilities appear in those regions where governors are personally involved in the life of the industry and are involved in attracting investments. The seed plant will work with a wide range of seed material: grains and legumes, industrial (oilseed) crops.
– Processing is very developed in our region, but given the climatic conditions, we need to become stronger in crop production. It is necessary to use those varieties and seeds that give the greatest yield. This requires serious breeding work and interaction with science. Such complexes, equipped with modern equipment, make it possible to achieve high quality seeds in order to solve the problem of increasing productivity. In addition, on the basis of the SITNO company it will be possible to test and adapt domestic varieties of agricultural seeds to the conditions of the Southern Urals. The selection and seed production center will generally improve the efficiency of our agriculture,” said the head of the region, Alexey Teksler.
The governor emphasized that the Chelyabinsk region is a leader in the agro-industrial complex of the Ural Federal District and in a number of areas in Russia. To confirm this leadership, new investment projects aimed at modernizing production are needed.
