In RUSSIA, patients who need uninterrupted therapy and a stable supply of medicines may face serious risks due to the increase in delivery times amid Western sanctions. This was reported to TASS in the press service of the charitable foundation "Circle of Good".

“We are still finding solutions for the supply of drugs. But the sanctions pressure exerted on the Russian Federation forced pharmaceutical suppliers to seriously reconsider the payment scheme and supply logistics. As a result, delivery times have also increased, this is a serious risk for the stable provision <...> of the continuity of therapy, ”the organization believes.

Basically, this problem concerns innovative drugs for the treatment of orphan (rare) diseases that are not produced by Russian pharmaceutical companies and which cannot be replaced by analogues.

And although none of the suppliers refused to fulfill their contractual obligations, Krug Dobra began to experience difficulties with the import of some drugs from the list for purchases. “So, for example, the manufacturer of a drug for seriously ill children, which has no analogues, confirmed contractual obligations, but on the condition that “the delivered drug should not be used in the territory of a country under sanctions,” the press service said.

Such problems can be experienced not only by Russian patients, but also by other countries that are subject to sanctions and various kinds of restrictions, according to the fund. The interlocutor of the agency noted the need to adopt a resolution at the UN level, which would exclude the spread of sanctions on medicines, technologies and products.

After the imposition of Western sanctions, some foreign pharmaceutical companies suspended the supply of certain drugs to Russia, and also refused clinical trials and investments in the country. At the same time, Roszdravnadzor claimed that they were not afraid of a shortage of medicines.

Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova instructed the Ministry of HEALTH to start searching for drugs that are not produced in Russia and friendly foreign countries in case of a shortage of foreign analogues. According to the calculations of the Ministry of Education and Science, in order to achieve “drug sovereignty” (85% of drug packages should be produced in Russia), subsidies of 200 billion rubles will be required by 2030.

At the end of June, Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed to simplify the procedure for importing medicines for the Circle of Kindness. The measures, in particular, provided for giving the fund the opportunity to create a reserve of individual drugs for the immediate provision of patients, including taking into account the forecast of the spread of rare diseases among children.

Krug Dobra also decided to allocate funds from the budget to compensate for VAT paid on the purchase of medicines not registered in Russia, their import and transfer to medical organizations under relevant agreements.
