The European Commission announced the preparation of the 11th package of sanctions against Russia

The European Union is preparing to introduce the 11th package of sanctions against RUSSIA, European Commissioner for Financial Stability Mairead McGuinness said in an interview with CNBC.

“Europe has introduced ten packages of sanctions. We will have another package,” she said. McGuinness added that the European Union will continue to crack down on restrictive evasion. The EU is working with the US , UK, CANADA, Japan and other allies to enforce sanctions and gather information about attempts to circumvent them.

“The stronger our sanctions , the more effective they are, and the more Russia will look for ways [to circumvent them],” the European Commissioner said. She noted that the efforts that Moscow will make with its allies around the world to evade sanctions should not be underestimated.

On April 12, restrictions against Russia were expanded by the United States. The country's Ministry of Finance imposed sanctions against the USM holding founded by businessman Alisher Usmanov, the Metalloinvest enterprise and the MegaFon operator, as well as against companies and people that, according to Washington, are associated with the businessman. For example, the restrictions affected Cypriot citizen Demetrios Sergides, who was named an adviser to Usmanov in the US department.

The US Department of Commerce, in addition to the sanctions of the US Department of the Treasury, introduced EXPORT restrictions against ten legal entities from Russia, 12 from CHINA . The sanctions also hit two companies each from the UAE and Uzbekistan, and one each from Armenia, Syria, Turkey, Malta and Spain. Restrictions were imposed "for attempts to evade US export controls" and the purchase of American goods for the needs of Russia.
