The Russian Foreign Ministry said that Russia was forced to take retaliatory measures in response to the decision of the media regulator in Germany, which banned the broadcasting of the German-language TV channel RT DE.

“This step deprives us of any choice but to proceed with the implementation of retaliatory measures against German media accredited in Russia, as well as Internet intermediaries who have arbitrarily and unreasonably deleted the channel’s accounts from their platforms,” the agency said in a statement.

The account of the RT DE TV channel was deleted by YouTube in December.

Kommersant, citing sources last week, reported that a list of possible measures in connection with restrictions on the work of RT had already been drawn up, among the possible measures the publication called the restriction of advertising for German companies in Russian online media, "hard penalties" in relation to the YouTube platform, as well as the deprivation of DW Deutsch and DW-TV broadcasting licenses in Russia.
