Borrell called Russia's sanctions against EU officials "unfounded"

Russia's decision to impose sanctions on eight Europeans, including European officials, is unacceptable and without legal basis. This was stated by the head of European diplomacy Josep Borrell.

“This decision, which is directly directed against the European Union and its member states, is unacceptable, lacks any legal basis and is unfounded,” he said.

According to him, Moscow's actions clearly demonstrate that the Russian authorities have chosen the path of confrontation instead of seeking to reverse the negative trajectory of relations between the EU and Russia.

"Russia's actions will not prevent the European Union from continuing to uphold human rights, democracy and international law, or holding accountable those responsible for human rights violations," Borrell added.
