detected in Russia per day. A third of these cases were recorded in Moscow - more than 10 thousand people were infected in the capital.

Over the past day, 33,106 people infected with coronavirus have been identified in Russia, according to the data of the operational headquarters. This is the maximum since March 18, when more than 34 thousand cases were registered.

Only 3167 people were hospitalized, and 22.6 thousand people were discharged from hospitals over the past day. According to the headquarters, 63 people infected with COVID died.

The largest number of cases of coronavirus infection per day was registered in Moscow - 10,241, which is almost twice as many as the day before (5530). In St. Petersburg , almost three times fewer infected were detected than in the capital - 3881. The top three in terms of daily increase in COVID cases is closed by the Moscow Region - 1968 cases were recorded here. Also, more than 1.1 thousand infected were detected in the Krasnodar Territory.

The day before, 23 thousand cases of infection were recorded in Russia, a decrease in the incidence was observed for the second day in a row. The surge in incidence occurred a few days after the lifting of anti-COVID restrictions in Russia in early July.

The head of the Ministry of Health, Mikhail Murashko, called this the “next stage” of the pandemic and urged Russians to again observe the mask regime and re-vaccinate. In some regions, they have already decided to return the requirement to wear masks in public places (for example, in Buryatia), in other regions (St. Petersburg, the Altai Republic), the measure is advisory in nature. Calls for revaccination come against the background of a significant decrease in the level of herd immunity in the country, to 7.4%.

Rospotrebnadzor believes that at the federal level the situation with the incidence is not critical and there is no need to introduce restrictions. However, the agency has recommended wearing masks in public places in regions where the weekly incidence rate exceeds 50 cases per 100,000 population.
