Rospotrebnadzor compared post-covid syndrome after "omicron" and "delta"

Those who have been ill with the omicron strain of coronavirus have fewer symptoms than after the delta strain. This was stated by Tatyana Ruzhentsova, Deputy Director for Clinical Work of the Moscow Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology named after Gabrichevsky Rospotrebnadzor, TASS reports.

“So far, in general, it seems that after “omicron”, those who have been ill have fewer symptoms than after its predecessor (delta strain. -). Less often, there are signs of thrombosis, stable cardiovascular and gastrointestinal disorders, ”said Ruzhentsova.

According to her, this may be due to the presence of immunity in many infected with the omicron strain, the younger age of the diseased and the rapid start of treatment due to pronounced symptoms.

Ruzhentsova also noted that in patients who have been vaccinated against COVID-19 , after suffering an "omicron", any consequences are less common.

She also pointed out that young people who have been ill have almost none of them.

“In older age groups, more often after receiving a negative PCR test result, coughing, weakness, decreased performance or ability to self-service persist,” Ruzhentsova explained.

Earlier, infectious disease specialist Yevgeny Timakov said that when infected with the omicron strain, a person may experience one symptom, or maybe a complex of symptoms. It can include a runny nose, headache, sore throat, hoarseness and stool disorders, the doctor said.

At the same time, he admitted that "omicron" can also occur simply in the form of a runny nose, malaise, headaches, sleep disturbances or sore throats. “With a more pronounced clinical picture, temperature reactions are also observed, reactions from the gastrointestinal tract, abdominal pain,” Timakov added.
