Rodnina questioned Shcherbakova's decision to continue her career after the Olympics

Anna Shcherbakova's decision to continue her career may not be final. Irina Rodnina, a three-time Olympic champion in figure skating, State Duma deputy, told RBC Sport about this.

“From decision to execution is quite a long way, she has a lot of work to do, the decision is not the final result. Technically, she is ready, by age she can do anything, all questions are only for herself, for the coach who will lead her and, of course, how much her family will support her decision. We cannot make decisions for others. She has this right, how she will use it and what the result will be, we will all see together, ”said Rodnina.

On Thursday, Shcherbakova announced that she had decided to continue her sports career.

On March 27, after the victory of her team in the First Channel Cup, the skater said that she could end her career after this season due to a “chaotic future.”

Due to the suspension by the International Skating Union (ISU), Russian skaters were forced to miss the World Championships in Montpellier, France.

Shcherbakova is the 2021 World Champion and winner of the individual tournament at the Beijing Games, as well as a two-time European silver medalist. The figure skater trains in the group of Eteri Tutberidze.
