Popova named the age groups with the highest increase in the incidence of COVID

The maximum incidence of covid-19 last week was recorded among adolescents 15-17 years old and among adults aged 30 to 49 years old, Anna Popova, HEAD of Rospotrebnadzor, said at a meeting of the Coordinating Council for Combating CORONAVIRUS. The transcript is published on the government website.

“[This] most active, highly contacting part of the population, of course, is the first to respond to the epidemiological situation,” Popova emphasized, adding that the minimum increase in cases is observed among Russians over 65 years old.

In total, 339,040 new cases of infection were registered in RUSSIA over the past week. The incidence rate was 231 per 100 thousand of the population, and this is two times higher than the previous week, Popova noted. At the same time, more than half (52%) of cases were recorded in Moscow, the Moscow region and St. Petersburg  - large centers "with a high density of contacts."

Popova saw an increase in the incidence of covid in the regions that lifted restrictions Society

Earlier, the head of Rospotrebnadzor noted that a faster increase in the incidence is observed in regions that have lifted restrictions imposed due to the spread of COVID-19.
