The Prosecutor General's Office comes up with a proposal to limit the replacement of criminal terms for petty corrupt officials with judicial fines. This was stated in an interview with RIA Novosti by the HEAD of the department, Igor Krasnov.

He said that the prosecutor's office had prepared appropriate amendments to the law. “Legal problems were solved, including the possibility of applying the institution of exemption from criminal liability for committing crimes of small and medium gravity with the imposition of a judicial fine,” Krasnov said.

According to the Prosecutor General, a number of corruption offenses fall into this category, which “is hardly justified given the scope of legal relations that they encroach on.”

Krasnov clarified that while this initiative is being coordinated, the supervisory agency, with the help of organizational measures, managed to reduce the number of such criminal cases from 1,113 to 484.
