January 26, Brest. Enterprises of the Brest region signed contracts worth $18 million at the world exhibition in Dubai (United Arab Emirates), HEAD of the Brest delegation to EXPO-2020, deputy chairman of the regional executive committee, Dmitry Gorodetsky, said today at a briefing, BelTA has learned.

On the eve of EXPO-2020, the Days of the Brest Region were held, which was presented by the heads and employees of nine companies. The economic, investment and tourism potential of the region, in particular, was presented by the Santa Bremor LLC JV, Barkhim OJSC, 1AK-GROUP, the STiM group of companies, the Kobrin Butter and Cheese Plant, the Brest MEAT Processing Plant, the Brestmyasomolprom Concern, the Brest Scientific -technological park and national park "Belovezhskaya Pushcha".

"Before the exhibition, we worked out the possibilities of signing contracts with our enterprises and organizations. In principle, everything worked out. Two contracts were signed with companies from CHINA, four with residents of the United Arab Emirates. Also, contracts were signed with residents from Nigeria, Hong Kong, Jordan, Romania, other countries - only 14 contracts for $18 million. Of this amount, about $8 million are contracts with companies from the UAE. We consider this a good result, since last year the volume of exports from the Brest region to the UAE amounted to $5 million," Dmitry Gorodetsky said.

In particular, contracts were signed for the supply of MILK powder, dry ice cream and other food products to the Arab market. "Santa Bremor" and "STiM" group of companies will increase the sales volumes of products. Barhim has signed an agreement with a Dubai-based company to promote its products to the UAE market. An agreement was signed with Chinese partners on the possibility of creating an enterprise for the production of heparin in the region. Potential investors were interested in investment proposals from the free economic zone "Brest" for the production of chargers for electric vehicles and ultrasound machines.

"The interest was quite lively. About 18 representatives of Arab companies - logistics, investment, food distributors, trade in raw materials, working in the petrochemical industry took part in the negotiations, presentations. The communication was quite warm and productive. Of course, a quick, swift entry into such a premium market like the United Arab Emirates is probably not to be expected, however, having a good feedback in the process of communication, we see where we need to work in. A good niche is food, which I think we are strong it is important that the UAE can become a good launching pad for the development of trade and economic relations with neighboring states, where there is also a good, solvent market," Dmitry Gorodetsky concluded.
