Pediatrician Andrey Alexandrovich Dechko visited JSC "Confectionery factory "Slodych" to get acquainted with the process of production of children's cookies.

During the visit, the DOCTOR agreed to answer a few questions and give recommendations on proper nutrition for children. More on this in our article.

Pediatrician Andrey Alexandrovich works at the Kind Doctor medical center. He talked about the age at which a child can start giving baby cookies.

- The optimal period for the introduction of this product into the baby's diet is the period after 6 months, you should not rush earlier. If the child is full-term and healthy, he has no neurological problems, he can swallow normally and already consumes cereals and vegetables as the main food, then you can give him cookies.

Further, the doctor shared recommendations regarding the number of children's cookies for babies of different ages.

- When it comes to children aged 6 to 9 months, the best option is a serving of no more than 5 grams. For those over 1 year old, it is recommended to give a portion in the region of 5-7 grams, which corresponds to 1-2 cookies per day.

On the issue of choosing a product for complementary foods, the doctor focused on specialized children's cookies, the packaging of which is labeled with an indication of the age group.

- For example, "from 6 months", "from 1 year", "from 3 years". These cookies differ in composition and meet the requirements of each age group. It is also important to consider that the cookies dissolve quickly in water, juice or mixture, especially for feeding young children.

The pediatrician emphasized that when choosing cookies, one should take into account possible allergic reactions in a child.

- It is recommended to avoid foods that your baby may be allergic to , such as eggs , certain flours and additives. It is also important to pay attention to flavoring additives. If they are fruity - strawberries, peaches, pineapples, etc., then, naturally, the age at which it is worth giving a child cookies increases. There is no need to rush to feed at 6 months those with an additive, for example, passion fruit. You should postpone the use of this cookie until a later age.

Speaking about the preservation of vitamins and microelements in cookies, Andrey Alexandrovich noted that this is a difficult issue.

- Although manufacturers are trying to add vitamins, trace elements and iodine to the product, it is impossible to say with complete certainty how much they are preserved during production and exposure to high temperatures. However, specialized children's cookies, as a rule, are enriched with useful substances, such as calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, necessary for the proper growth of children, as well as vitamin D and iodine.

At the end of the interview, the doctor shared his opinion on the introduction of baby biscuits into the diet. It is for the child not the main, but additional nutrition.

- Before starting to give cookies, you need to make sure that the child fully consumes the main meal. First of all, the baby should already fully assimilate the first feeding, when breast MILK or an adaptive mixture is replaced with cereals. The second feeding should be replaced with vegetables, and ideally with vegetables and MEAT . Only after that you can offer cookies, and between the main meals.

- When giving your child a snack of sweet biscuits with juice, be careful not to interrupt his appetite. If then after half an hour you begin to feed the baby broccoli or cauliflower, then it is unlikely that he will eat vegetables with pleasure.

Cookies should be given to diversify the diet and accustom the child to active independent chewing. It also helps the baby to master the skill of taking a cookie in his hand, like a spoon. And also - properly chew and swallow lumpy food.

That is, if the child is already developed, he is 6 to 7 months old and he eats cereals and vegetable puree, then you can offer him cookies. However, you need to observe the measure and not overdo it with calories during the day, not forgetting the main thing, that cookies are not an alternative to a full meal. While, for example, on a walk, you should not replace your child's lunch with a can of juice with a pack of cookies. But if an hour or two has passed after the main meal, then the cookies offered to the baby will only benefit.

- Is it safe to give cookies to a child in pieces or is it better to soak, knead?

- The smaller the baby, the more careful you need to be. After the first year, he can usually swallow the pieces and chew. If he is from 6 to 8 months old, then it is recommended to slightly soften the cookies in a mixture, juice, water or baby tea. At the same time, the child should not be left alone while eating. He should sit at a table or in a highchair, and not lie down so as not to choke. Do not forget when feeding about attentiveness and caution.

Baby cookies "Lapushka" are approved by Belarusian pediatricians and recommended for babies after 6 months. Its easily soluble texture and convenient form allow the child to eat independently and develop hand motor skills.

The safety and quality of the product is ensured by the absence of dyes, preservatives and palm oil. Cookies are made with butter. All 3 types of biscuits contain dairy products (skimmed milk powder, and "Children's" and "Children's" APPLE + pumpkin "biscuits also contain condensed milk with SUGAR). "Children's" apple + pumpkin "biscuits contain apple and pumpkin puree. In the "Children's" and "Children's" apple + pumpkin assortments, part of the sugar is replaced by dextrose. In the "Children's" biscuits without added sugar, it is completely replaced by concentrated fruit juice and oligofructose.
