26 February,
Minsk . A delegation of the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange took part in the 26th international construction exhibition UzBuild in Tashkent and the 4th international specialized exhibition AGROPRO EXPO in Samarkand, where agreements were reached to increase supplies of Belarusian sawn timber and agricultural products to the Uzbek market, the press service of the commodity exchange told BELTA.
Significant interest was noted among Uzbek business circles in using exchange trading instruments to purchase and sell a wide range of raw materials and non-raw materials. In particular, in addition to importing wood products, representatives of Uzbek businesses expressed their readiness to purchase
meat products and feed additives at BUCE and place orders for the sale of food raw materials, including nuts and dried fruits. The plans include not only increasing the number of exchange trade participants from Uzbekistan, but also diversifying the structure of Belarusian-Uzbek exchange trade turnover, which will ensure its sustainable positive dynamics in the long term. Thus
, in
2024 , Uzbekistan took fourth place after
Russia,
China and Azerbaijan in terms of the amount of exchange transactions concluded on our trading platform. Over 90% of all transactions were for the purchase of Belarusian sawn timber, dry
milk and
sugar. Mainly cotton yarn, which is in high demand among textile industry enterprises, was supplied to
Belarus through the exchange. "The issue of expanding the range of goods involved in exchange trade between the two countries, both in the direction of
export and import, is relevant for us. We plan, among other things, to join forces with the Embassy of Belarus in Uzbekistan, which will help inform Uzbek business entities about the advantages of the exchange mechanism. The embassy will recommend using the exchange platform to work on the Belarusian market," commented Olga Gorelik, First Deputy Chairperson of the Board of BUCE.
At present, 188 residents of Uzbekistan are accredited at BUCE, three of whom have the status of exchange brokers. Last year, Uzbek participants in exchange trading concluded transactions for a total of $54.8 million, which is three times more than the same figure in 2023. In
2025, there has already been an almost twofold increase in trade turnover: $9.6 million in January of this year versus $5.2 million in January
2024.
