Bison arrived from an area prosperous for contagious, including especially dangerous, animal diseases. Before shipment, the animals were examined for infectious and viral diseases, deworming was carried out. In the near future, it is planned to import several more individuals to create a stable population of the Bashkir herd.
The bison will be kept in an enclosure for the first year of their stay on the Bashkir land. After acclimatization, they will be released into the wild.
In RUSSIA, there is a "Strategy for the conservation of bison", approved by the Ministry of Natural Resources of the Russian Federation until 2030. The Government of the Republic of Bashkortostan has decided to revive the bison population on the territory of the republic.
Bison is listed in the Red Books of 13 regions of the Russian Federation, as well as in Belarus. According to the latest data, there were 703 individuals in Belovezhskaya Pushcha at the beginning of 2022.
