One of the main achievements of 2025 was the increase in sheep and goat production, which increased by more than 16%, reaching 8.5 thousand tons. The leading positions in this segment are occupied by regions of the North Caucasus Federal District, such as Dagestan and the Karachay-Cherkess Republic. Here, since the beginning of the year, over two thousand tons of small cattle have been produced, which is explained by favorable natural and climatic conditions and significant pasture lands. The development of sheep and goat breeding in these regions not only contributes to an increase in production, but also plays an important role in economic development.

The poultry segment has also seen significant growth. According to Rosstat, 2.25 million tons of poultry were produced in Russia in the first four months of 2025, which is 3.4% more than last year. The highest results were demonstrated by the Belgorod Region, where the production volume amounted to 249.1 thousand tons. The increase in poultry production is due to the modernization of farms, the introduction of new technologies and the improvement of the feed base. Farmers are actively investing in the development of infrastructure, which not only increases volumes, but also improves the quality of products, meeting modern standards.

Livestock farming remains a priority area of state support in the Russian agro-industrial complex. The government is implementing various programs aimed at stimulating production growth, including subsidizing feed costs, veterinary services, and upgrading production facilities. Given current trends and future plans, the sector can be expected to continue to develop, increasing export potential and ensuring food security for the country.
