Udmurt agrarians, engaged in breeding animals for MEAT productivity, annually gain pace in the production of high-quality beef. Today, this young branch of the agro-industrial complex of Udmurtia is represented by 37 farms - over the year their number has increased by three (8.8%). Herefords and Aberdeen Angus are already kept in 14 out of 25 rural areas of the republic, the press service of the regional Ministry of Agriculture reported.
At the end of 2021, the herd of meat specialization in Udmurtia expanded by 792 heads, with an increase of 36.9%. At the same time, the number of beef cows increased by 25.4% (+264 heads). And today the total number of cattle of specialized meat breeds in the republic is 2935 heads.
During the year, the farms produced 315.6 tons of high-quality meat - only 859 heads were sold. They received 1002 heads of offspring, the average daily weight gain on growing and fattening calves of meat breeds reached 1029. “In specialized beef cattle breeding, the business output of calves is the only source of profit for producers. less than 80 heads per 100 cows is already considered economically unprofitable," the Ministry of Agriculture of Udmurtia explains.
