FAO predicts decline in global pork production

The main role in this will be played by the countries of Europe, including the European Union, where, oddly enough, there are more of these outbreaks than in other states and where their number is constantly growing. The exact figures, taking into account the reduction, are not called, nor is it specified when it will occur. However, in the medium term, an increase is expected again, and by 2032 the figure will be 129 million tons. Also, in the next ten years, pig MEAT will account for almost a third of the global consumption of meat products. Over the past year, according to the center, global pork output was 122.3 million tons, or 1.2 percent higher than in 2021. The growth at that time was associated with a huge number of ongoing investment projects to expand capacities in RUSSIA and the EU .

The position of the largest producer of this meat is maintained by CHINA , which accounted for more than 45 percent of global volumes last year. It is followed by the countries of the European Union, the usa and Brazil , and Russia closes the top five with a share of almost 3.5% . World pork trade over the past year, according to FAO, decreased by 9.4% from 2022 to 11.5 million. Monetary imports of pork (including offal), according to ITC Trade Map, amounted to $ 39 billion. Among the leaders is again China with 6.5 billion, further down the list are Japan with 4.4, Mexico with 2.9, Italy with 2.4 and the Republic of Koreawith 2.1 billion dollars. For the first of the countries, the indicator is given taking into account a two-fold decrease in purchases. Their reason is that China itself and many countries that EXPORT pork to its territory suffered from the above-mentioned disease. However, this did not prevent China from maintaining its leadership in the list of buyer countries. Of the exporters, Spain, the USA and Germany were in the lead with 6.9, 6.4 and 4.3 billion dollars. Russia was far ahead of them on the list and was only able to enter the top 25. According to Agroexport's calculations, if global demand for pork continues to grow and our country enters new markets, it can increase pork exports to more than 300,000 tons, or $600 million.
