Two-thirds of Russians began to buy canned food more often this year, and every fifth inhabitant of the Russian Federation began to buy a third more of this type of product. This is evidenced by the results of a nationwide survey conducted by the Russian courier delivery service nePochta.

"Almost two-thirds of the respondents (63%) began to consume more stew compared to last year. Moreover, every fifth (19%) - about a third more, and every ninth (11%) - one and a half times more," the study notes. .

In particular, almost a third of the respondents (32%) prepare dishes with stew about once or twice a month, and every sixth (16%) - 3-4 times a month. Every eighth (12%) respondent prepares meals with her about once every two to three months. 9% of Russians do not consume canned meat at all.

The experts noted that there are several main reasons why the respondents increased the consumption of canned fish and meat. Firstly, March - April - the threshold of the summer season and trips out of town, hiking and to the country, when there is a need to purchase easy-to-prepare products with a long shelf life. This factor was named by 59% of respondents who increased their consumption of stew this spring.

The second factor is the growth of inflationary expectations in the face of economic uncertainty (71% of respondents indicated this factor). The third factor is psychological: fears of a decrease in the range of products and the desire to buy a product for future use, given that canned meat and fish are a product with a long shelf life, easy to store and not taking up space in the refrigerator (64% of respondents indicated it). Another 26% of respondents went for stew under the influence of panic, following the example of relatives or acquaintances.

Another 22% of respondents began to buy canned meat and fish for the reason that they "tasted" them and want to consume them more often, because they like them, the experts added.

Popular dishes

According to analysts, canned meat was more in demand among respondents than fish. As the survey showed, canned meat is included in the daily diet of every second respondent (49%), while canned fish - only every sixth respondent (17%).

The most popular canned meat dish was naval pasta (57%). In second place are boiled buckwheat with stew (44%) and stewed potatoes with stew (41%), fried potatoes with stew (36%) and barley porridge with stew (23%).
