Asia and Africa will support the growth of global lamb production

Growth in mutton production will come mainly from increased production in Asia, primarily in China, Pakistan and India, but significant growth is also projected in Africa, especially in the least developed countries of sub-Saharan Africa. Despite the constraints associated with urbanization, desertification in some countries, sheep and goats are well adapted to the region and the extensive production systems it uses.

In Oceania, production is expected to rise moderately due to continued competition for grazing land with beef and dairy producers in New Zealand, a major exporter of mutton, and an extreme and prolonged drought in Australia, where the total number of sheep has fallen from 72 million to 63 million heads since 2017 to 2020.

Sheep meat production in the European Union is expected to remain stable, supported by voluntary regional support in the main sheep-producing EU Member States.

And this fact will be taken into account when preparing the monthly analytical report Meatinfo.ru
