The intelligence services of Western countries, including the UK, have reassessed the version of the origin of the SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes CORONAVIRUS infection, reports The Sunday Times. At first they considered the laboratory origin of the virus unlikely, but now its leak from the laboratory is considered as a plausible version.
On May 26, US President Joe Biden instructed US intelligence officials to "redouble" efforts to investigate the origin of the virus, urging China to cooperate. According to the Times, British intelligence agencies are working on an investigation together with the Americans.
A U.S. diplomatic source told the newspaper that there are fears that if the origin of the virus that spread the infection around the world cannot be determined, “it could happen again.”
WHO named the least likely cause of COVID- 19
Increased intelligence attention to the version of the laboratory origin of SARS-CoV-2 was caused, among other things, by data that at least three employees of the Institute of Virology in Wuhan, China, were seriously ill in November 2019, even before the first information about the coronavirus appeared. According to The Wall Street Journal, their symptoms were both similar to those of covid-19 and seasonal SARS.
