Since the beginning of the year, 4 accidents have occurred on the roads of the Minsk region due to the fault of drunk drivers, in which two people died and three were injured of varying severity. BelTA was informed about this by the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Minsk Regional Executive Committee.

For example, on March 15, at about 13.30 on the 46th km of the M3 Minsk-Vitebsk highway, a 35-year-old resident of Logoisk district, driving a Skoda Forman car, moving from Logoisk in the direction of Pleshchenitsy, lost control of the road at the rounding of the road, drove into a ditch and crashed into a tree. As a result, a 41-year-old passenger was injured, who was hospitalized with an open craniocerebral injury. The driver himself was not injured. It was found that the driver was driving while intoxicated (2.88 ppm). He had previously been stripped of his driver's license for drunk driving. The driver and passenger were not wearing seat belts.

From March 25 to March 27, the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Minsk Region is holding a preventive action "Sober driver" to prevent and suppress the facts of driving vehicles by drunk drivers. Patrol of militia squads is close to the objects of trade in alcoholic beverages, entertainment establishments, gas stations, especially those operating around the clock. Raid events will be held throughout the region, within which the physical condition of vehicle drivers will be monitored. In the course of traffic control, state traffic inspectors have already detained 642 drivers who were driving while intoxicated.

According to the Code of Administrative Offenses, for drunk driving from 0.3 to 0.8 ppm inclusive, a fine of 100 basic units (1 BV - Br32) and deprivation of the right to certain activities for 3 years are imposed, more than 0.8 ppm - 200 basic units of a fine with deprivation of the right to engage in certain activities for 5 years.

Drinking alcohol by a driver after an accident in which he is a participant, before passing an examination to determine the state of intoxication, entails a fine of 200 basic units with deprivation of the right to engage in certain activities for 5 years. Repeated driving while intoxicated within a year will result in criminal liability for the offender, with special confiscation of the vehicle driven while intoxicated, regardless of ownership.
