In Kopyl district, a man set fire to his common-law wife and friend, the Investigative Committee is investigating the criminal case

The Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of the Minsk Region is investigating a criminal case on the attempted murder of two people. This was reported to BELTA by the official representative of the Investigative Committee of the Minsk Region, Maria Nikitina.

As established by the investigation, on June 25, after a hard day's work on the farm, a 54-year-old resident of the agro-town of Skabin returned home. There, his common-law wife and an acquaintance were waiting for him, who had already managed to consume a considerable amount of alcohol. The company continued the party, emptying another bottle of vodka bought with the friend's money . Under the influence of alcohol, the guest asked to stay the night and the owner of the house agreed.

However, further events unfolded according to a tragic scenario. The man explained to the investigator that, upon entering the room, he saw his passion and drinking buddy lying in an embrace on the sofa. Boiling jealousy clouded his mind. Enraged, he grabbed a bottle of gasoline, doused them and set them on fire.

The friend miraculously managed to escape the fire and run out of the house. Having come to his senses, the attacker put out the flames on his beloved. To avoid punishment, they agreed to hide the incident and present it as an accident while burning garbage.

During the next day, the woman suffered from her injuries, without receiving qualified medical care. The next day, seeing the terrible condition of the victim, the neighbors insisted on calling an ambulance. Doctors immediately hospitalized her and a mutual friend with burns to their bodies. Unfortunately, the woman was unable to recover from her injuries and died in a medical facility two weeks later. Currently,

with the sanction of the prosecutor, a preventive measure in the form of detention has been applied to the 54-year-old resident of the agro-town of Skabin. Investigators qualified his actions under paragraph 1 of Article 14, paragraphs 1 and 6 of Part 2 of Article 139 (attempted murder of two persons committed with particular cruelty) of the Criminal Code of Belarus.
