May 10, Mogilev. A Mogilev resident was robbed by an acquaintance on a train, BelTA learned from the Mogilev Regional Executive Committee's Department of Internal Affairs.
A 33-year-old local resident contacted the Leninsky District Department of Internal Affairs and reported that property and cash totaling approximately Br2,300 had been stolen. The incident occurred on the train while the man was returning home from work.
Law enforcement officers determined that the complainant's acquaintance, with whom he works at the same company in a neighboring country, had taken the headphones, cell phone, and cash.
A 41-year-old Mogilev resident with a criminal record sat down with the man in the train compartment. They drank
alcohol together, and the man fell asleep afterward. The man was awakened at the Mogilev station; his acquaintance was gone, along with his personal belongings and money.
It turned out that the fellow passenger had discreetly taken the items while the complainant slept. The thief immediately spent some of the cash on personal expenses.
Investigators have opened a criminal case against the suspect.
