Rabies virus detected in Nizhny Novgorod region

On March 29, 2022, in a sample of pathological material from a fox shot on February 22, 2022 in the Lyskovsky NOOiR of the Nizhny Novgorod region, the rabies virus antigen was detected by the method of fluorescent antibodies.
Laboratory studies were carried out by specialists from the reference laboratory for rabies and BSE of the FGBU “Federal Center for Animal Health” (FGBI “ARRIAH”) subordinate to Rosselkhoznadzor. Pathological material from a fox was delivered from the Office of the Rosselkhoznadzor for the Nizhny Novgorod Region and the Republic of Mari El.
