USAU develops a system of work with gifted children

On October 27, the rector of the university O.G. Loretz signed a cooperation agreement with the DIRECTOR of the Golden Section Foundation I.K. Denyush.

Ural State Agrarian University, together with the Golden Section Foundation for the Support of Talented Children and Youth, have agreed to conduct joint programs, projects and events aimed at identifying gifted children and creating opportunities for their individual development.

According to the agreements, USAU teachers will become co-organizers and curators of events for schoolchildren in the natural sciences. In particular, we are talking about such programs as “Sirius. Summer” and ecological shifts in the out-of-town educational center “Tavatuy”.

The synthesis of the forces and competencies of educational organizations will help to educate gifted children, develop children's skills for research and project activities, promote the professional self-determination of children, as well as gain the necessary experience for young university specialists.

Thus, within the framework of the Sirius.Summer: Start Your Project program, schoolchildren can choose and implement a project on the profile of the Ural Agrarian State University. For example, to learn how to develop biotechnological methods for the production of bio-yogurts on the basis of the dairy laboratory of the university.

And in the country center "Tavatuy" in an interactive format, the children will learn a lot about the ecology of animals, plants, water bodies, meteorology, climatology and much more. They will learn how to conduct field research to study the diversity of flora and fauna, draw up passports for the area and water bodies, determine the physical and chemical parameters of water, anthropogenic climate change, apply GIS technologies to create maps, conduct microbiological tests to determine the quality of food and much more.

“We are certainly very pleased with this cooperation. This will unite our efforts in working with talented students and will provide an opportunity to train promising scientific personnel, as well as to develop the institution of curatorship and mentoring at our university. The Ural Agrarian University has extensive experience in working with schoolchildren - these are agricultural classes, olympiads, and scientific and practical conferences. In particular, we are interested in organizing practice-oriented training for our students, so such cooperation will also be useful for young specialists,” commented Olga Gennadievna Loretts, Rector of the Ural State Agrarian University, DOCTOR of Biological Sciences, Professor.

Inna Kazimirovna Denyush, director of the Golden Section Foundation, expects that such cooperation will help achieve specific goals: “Now we are preparing a program of educational activities for the upcoming 2022. We hope that together with the Ural State Agrarian University we will help our students to understand the main issues of ecology and agriculture, how to move from the desire to improve the world to concrete actions. In the near future, an application company for the December intensive "Environmental Design" will open.
